His voyage commenced at the Technical Nautical Institute, where he acquired foundations of the shipping sector. Following his education, he embarked on a three-year journey with Tirrenia di Navigazione, deepening his understanding of the maritime world and forging a deep connection with seafaring. Giuseppe Russo’s career then took a transformative turn as he joined Bravo Chem, a distinguished brokerage firm specializing in tankers and chemical carriers, in the operation department. He honed his skills, the intricacies of vessel brokering. The next chapter saw him at Mercury Shipbrokers, where he devoted an impressive 17 years to the Sale & Purchase desk, which lasted further 7 years when Mercury was absorbed by Bravo Tankers group. Continuing his journey, Giuseppe Russo decided to found Sextant Ships Consulting Srl, a venture born from his deep-rooted passion for maritime brokerage. Today, at Sextant Ships Consulting Srl, Giuseppe Russo applies the wealth of knowledge and experience he has amassed over the years to provide innovative solutions and tailor made services to clients in the maritime industry.

Career
His career journey began with a solid foundation in International Trade and Currency Markets, acquired through a degree at Parthenope University in Naples, Italy. His first foray into the world of finance led him to the Banca Popolare di Novara in Naples. This experience provided him with a keen understanding of the financial industry. Subsequently, he set sail into the maritime sector by joining Peninsula Enterprise of Sorrento (Naples) for 5 years. His time at Peninsula Enterprise Sorrento allowed him to witness firsthand the complexities of the shipping industry. His journey continued as he ventured into Bottiglieri di Navigazione / RBD Armatori of Torre del Greco (Naples), another prominent player in the shipping industry. Over the course of two decades, within the company, he took on roles as manager in the commercial, post-fixing, finance and legal departments. These diverse roles not only enriched his skill set but also deepened his understanding of the multifaceted maritime industry, tackle complex challenges in this field. Currently, he is the key member of Sextant, specializing in sale and purchase and project management. In this role, he draws upon his extensive background to facilitate successful transactions and manage complex projects in the shipping sector.
